Zavier Update

DH is arranging things at work so he will be driving us out to Nashville to see Zavier!

We can get a less expensive room not as close to Vanderbilt Hospital and just drive in to the hospital daily.

This works out best for us and we are blessed to be able to do it this way.

The few rooms available at the Hospitality House and Ronald MacDonald House I feel need to go to families of children so very critically ill who cannot afford a room elsewhere.

There are not really that many rooms for the amount of folks that need them!

This being Easter weekend also means more folks visiting!

We are making arrangements to be leaving Friday or Sat .

For us it is an 11 hr or so drive of about 700 miles.

Doing a 2-3 day visit!.

I just have to see our sweetie and love on him!

Phones are okay but not the same as being there.

Talked with Kristy yesterday and things are looking up according to Zavier’s docs.! YES!!!!

Docs say the aggressive protocol they are doing is working and we are back from the edge somewhat.

Kidney is function better and other affected areas as well.

They have identified the tumor/cancer ‘type’ and radiation fights it well.

That will begin after they run a couple more tests/scans today.

There is a chance Zavier may not walk again but ya know we just never know what the future may hold!

I will not give up on him in any way in my heart and soul!

Working on his ‘Granny Loves Me’ Comfort Quilt now.

As many as I have done for others never thought I would be doing one for one of my own grand children!

It is helping me stay busy, focused and positive too!

We all have that need to DO SOMETHING at times like these, so this is may way of doing that!

The extra treat for this Grandma is I get to see the other 5 kiddoes too at least for a day on this short run out to Tennessee!!!!

Not sure if I will be able to email or post any while there .

If not will do so as soon as I get back!

Once again thanks so much for caring about a child and a Grandmother you have never met!

Thanks to our sweet Micki for posting about sending Zavier cards on her blog !!

The offers of help from folks we have never met has touched my heart!

We are all so blessed to be a part of a sewing /quilting community of such wonderful caring folks!

You are all awesome!!!!!

May God bless and keep you!

Hugs,

Lola

Grandson Zavier

Loves his hair long!;-)

Ready to hunt something!!

Zavier is 11 years old.

Cute lil red head with Grandma’s blue eyes!

He loves to hunt and fish.

Will wear his camo outfits till they wear out!;-)

All I can tell you now is his tumor is malignant an involved with his lower spin.

Lots of nerves there and it also is causing some problems with his kidney.

He has had 2 rounds of chemo.

Doctors spoke of radiation this week.

Daughter and her husband are waiting on the meeting today with the group of doctors on Zavier’s case to see how they will proceed.

Still trying to identify what kind of cancer it is and if there are anymore tumors.

Right now it is just waiting on info to plan when we will leave for Nashville.

Daughter’s home is well over an hour and a half away from Nashville.

So we have to get a room near hospital with transport to hospital.

We also have some issues here to resolve before we can hit the road.

I wish I could just fly out right now and make it all better, but have to be patient!!

There are 5 other children in the family to consider also.

Nearby family and friends plus church has stepped into help.

What a blessing it is to be surrounded by such kind and caring folks!

I thank you all so very much for all the kind thoughts, prayers and cards!

Zavier is more coherent now and will enjoy receiving them I am sure!

All we can do is take it day by day.

Even though it is so very hard.

Once again thanks so very much!

Hugs,

Lola(Grandma D)

PS

On top of this we had bad storms, tornadoes come through around here!

We are so very lucky as just a couple miles up the road from us it is a mess.

Roads closed and some homes destroyed.

Keep all the folks who are suffering in some way because of all the storms in your thoughts and prayers as well!

Asking a favor and sending out Thanks!

I am asking for some thoughts and prayers to be sent out for our grandson . He is in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. He goes into surgery at 5AM tomorrow, Friday. They finally found what has been part of his problems a tumor on his spine!!
He suffers terribly from Celiacs so not sure how all this is connected.
I will not be getting hourly updates so will post what I know when I hear it.
Thank you all very much.

I wish to send out a big THANKS to Micki for asking me to be one of her monthly Stars!
I feel so honored to be in the company of some super talented artists Micki has interviewed since she begin them!

Micki is a doll(luv u micki) and Joe , well he is just plain awesome!
He is the one that typed up and posted the interview!
Joe is being her 'hand's for the moment till Micki is all healed up.
If you want, you can go check out my 'interview' and check out her wonderful blog also!!

I am going to go do some more granny worrying now.

Spring Gardening

Still not much happening here in the sewing/creating/ doing department.
Our weather has been up and down.
Today cloudy, chance rain and back in low 50's.
Yesterday was a beautiful day though. Perfect temps, sunshine and a slight breeze.
I decided to try to weed some. Wrong thing to do with a body that is coming back from being ill!
Shoot who am I kidding was just wrong to do with a body out of shape!!!;-)
Today I can hardly move.
Sadly the one flower bed is still only half done!!!
Have never seen the weeds and such this bad ever!
Turning all that back over to DH.
Did soak up some Vit D so that is a good thing!

DH has been busy too.

This is his raised bed. Pretty full.
Those are garden peas up there on the side, spinach on the end.
It is amazing what he can get out of it in a season!
Nothing fancy but workable.
Will be doing another one soon.
The chicken wire keeps the cat out of it and rabbits.

These old cans have been around a long time!
They protect tender plants. These are on butter crunch lettuce and some red.

Some onions, shallots, radishes and cauliflower coming along.
Still has the garden plot to clean up and plow.
That is where the tomatoes, cukes and squash go.
I hope some watermelons, cantaloupes and later pumpkins!
From the looks of all the deer we are seeing at dusk, he may have a problem with them this year. Will just have to see I reckon.
Have winter wheat planted in the fields and cotton will follow.
If so hope deer will just much the young tender plants there!
Me Bad!!!;-)

Here is the tired gardener.
That is his garden plot beyond the pear tree.

This is my latest thrift store find.
99cent dessert bowels. Not sure if Indiana Glass or not.
Plan to mix them with my red ones to use for the Christmas Holidays.

Want to share a simple project I hope to finish soon.
All cut just need to sit at machine and sew!
Been in the dumps as they say but trying to pull myself out!
Life is not all sunshine and roses at times.
Just have to keep plugging along!!!

Hugs,
Lola
