Oh Me...

My song has been the old Hee Haw tune...
If it weren't for Bad Luck.. I'd have No Luck at all!!
Well the young good look'n Doc says I was VERY LUCKY!!
This all could have been much worse if had been lower into the Achilles Tendon.
My muscle tear is in the big muscle in middle of calf.
I have been nursing things along.
Doing as Doc instructed.
Swelling has gone down and the bruising is yellow.
Not much else to do but let it heal.
It will, but be shorter and easier to injure AGAIN! UGH!
I can get around a bit better but still must be careful of quick stops and turns.

Not on PC at all much.
Was too uncomfortable to sit here at my desk top.
I do not have a lap top.
DH does but I just did not want to put my stuff on it. ;-)

After the first days with pain meds the sharpness passed.
I could sit and read, TV or stitch.
DH did take leave to be here as my 'nurse'...;-)
I am thinking we are taking turns at this nurse stuff!!
Humm wonder if that is the "Worse" of For Better or Worse!Ha! Ha! Ha!

Thanks so much for all the kind get well wishes and emails of concern.
I hope you do not mind that I am acknowledging them here and not individually!
Just want you each to know I appreciate each and every one!
May get boring here for a bit till I can get around to do more;-(

I finished all 4 of the red work baskets for the Toile Quilt!
So now I am on to the Bunny Hill Snowbound Freebies.
Doing them in red work on tone on tone fabric for a winter holiday quilt.

The Amaryllis are blooming.
So pretty!
Reds are dark but short.

The pink ones have creamy white stripes!
Taller too.
All these were from the ones we force over Christmas.
So yes you can set them out and they will come back...at least in my zone!
In upper zones try re-potting them in bigger pots!

I am trying to pop into a few blogs but no way can I catch up!!
Everyone has been really busy sewing, quilting, gardening, teas, house decor and so much else Spring and warm weather brings around!

Thanks again so much for stopping by and hanging with me!!
Wishing each a Grand Day!!!
Hugs!

clipped wing...kinda sorta

One hour you are up flying high getting stuff done and then BAM ya get your wings clipped!!!
Well in my case more like a 'hind leg'!
Yepper in the calf of my left leg.
Something pulled then POPPED, sounded like a bottle cork and PAIN!
Drag myself to the freezer grab an ice pack to slap on.
Got to the recliner to get it up. Did grab an Ace on the way.
Yes I do keep all these items very assessable ..I need them a lot !
Felt horrid for a goodly bit.
Like something pulling hard when I moved leg at all.
Some swelling.

Can’t stand long or walk normal so crutches are my new best buds.

So after some web look up and DH discussion, make the appt with our ortho practice.

Yes I say OURS, as much $$ we have INVESTED there we should have a share!

So all afternoon yesterday was R.I.C.E. aka rest, ice, compression and elevation.

Overnight being off it eased it off somewhat.

Still no normal walking.

Not as much swelling.

Today is a late afternoon appt.

So will hopefully know just what happened, why and how to proceed.

So off to shower and primp to get all ready to have my leg ‘felt up’ by a young Doc!

Oh be still my heart!!

Stay tuned report at 11!

Saturday Fun

Some shopping of course!
Humm what is it ???

Well chocolates ...

..and fabric of course!
What else do you need for a fun shopping day!!

Okay I confess...yes we got into the box of chocolates on way home!!
I have had a couple pieces since Sat as well!!;-)
What can I say ...once ya open that box they really do not keep well ya know.
I'm just say'n!!!;-)
I bet you all do that Forrest Gump quote every time ya open a box like me!!!
My momma always said,
"Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

Could not resist these fun napkins with my L on them either!!
It is the little things ya know.
We all need some from time to time to bring on that smile!!!
;-)
Wishing you all loads of smiles today!!!

Goodness...

Another week whizzed by me!
I thought I would finish basket # 2 this week but alas only this far along.

Just a few more stitches then on to basket # 3!

Now I did get this cake made.
I used the fresh berries from last Sunday .
It is a Strawberry Ice Box Cake.
Yummy!!
Just look for the recipe on a box of Duncan Hines Strawberry Cake Mix.
They call for frozen berries but I used fresh.
Easy and delish cake!

I am also still sorting for our Treasures Yard Sale next month!
So did some more pulling out, tagging and packing!

Also picked these pretty peonies.
Have some in my sewing room too!

Had to have some of these tea roses too!
I have also read some curled up with quilt, hot tea and heating pad!
I don't do cool and damp very well.;-(
We have had all seasons this week it seems...
Spring, Winter, Summer, Spring , Fall, Summer...yes all of them in six days!
I am grateful as we did get 1.5 inches rain even if it came from bad storms
but beggars can't be choosers!
Did the dry gardens a world of good!

I spent time with some dear ones too this week.
Had a nice day spent with my child hood pal Deb.
We been pals for over 45+ yrs! OMG! Just dawned on me!
We may have to have us a special Golden Anniversary Celebration! ;-)

Went to town on another day for lunch with
my sweet pal/niece/partner in crime.;-)
She always does it up right!
She works from her home office.
So we only have the lunch hour but do have a grand time!

Just not enough hours in my days to get all I would wish done!
Oh well not like it was all wasted!!!;-)
Busy weekend ahead too.
Just hope weather is on our side!
We have Memorial at our family cemetery, Mill Swamp, this Sunday.
It is when you put out flowers to remember your loved ones there,
not anything to do with the official Memorial Day.
It is always the 3rd Sunday in May.
Used to be a big gathering, you would see lots of folks you do not see a a regular basis.
Sadly not so much anymore.
Course a lot of dear ones have passed on as well.
Folks grow up move away,etc.
We will do it till we no longer can.
Love seeing all the pretty flowers!
Also flags on soldiers graves, lots of Confederate ones too.

Wishing all a very super good weekend!!
Enjoy it in some way!!!

'38'

Not 38 inches of fabric, not a 38 inch waist, not a 38 pistol, not 38 yards, pounds or feet of any thing!
Just a lot of 38 degrees F COLD!!!
What we woke up to this early AM!
Can you believe it here in southeastern Virginia on May 10th!
To think we thought 46 F was cold yesterday when we got up! NOT!
I mean after all Sat wind was huff'n, blowing dust around and it was 90 F!!
Oh well the upside is the plants that were re-potted and new plants planted are getting a few days of reprieve from the heat.
Wind is still blowing here today more northerly.
We are dry ,very dry and need that rain we had way back when it was TOO MUCH !
Oh dear...sigh.

I sure hope everyone passed a wonderful day Sunday.
If you were celebrating Mother's Day I hope you made lots of sweet memories!
Thanks so much for all the sweet Mother's Day wishes to me!
We had a very lovely day with our son, his wife and her parents!
The kids put on a super brunch for us!
All was yummy.
We 'Moms' received pretty roses along with our sweet cards!

Had a nice long visit .
Had not see DIL's parents in a goodly while.
Sadly yet again I took camera and took NO PICS!

So on way home DH stops to buy me a big container of strawberry's from the farm!

Told me to save MY CASH for something else...what a guy!! ;-)

At home I got comfy with a cup of tea and a movie.
Was flipping channels and found 'The Holiday' about to begin!
Love that one!!

Now back to my real world!
Putting those berries away!
Some laundry, cooking and cleaning.
Maybe I will fit in a bit of crafting, stitching or sewing too!
Hope you all also can fit in a bit of fun today as well.
Just something to make you smile or you enjoy.
No matter how big or small a thing!
Good for the soul!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

MOTHERS

Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up...

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother.....

The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't know everything!

14 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother? She wouldn’t have a clue.

.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's so five minutes ago.

18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!

35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she
Shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

Slow 'round here..

..these days.
Slow as in the sewing /making stuff category.
I am still stitching on the red work baskets.
Busy with other things though.

Put the Skinny Hanger up on front door for Memorial Day.
Will be good through July 4th as well. ;-)
Will get all the flags out to do porch soon too.

Pantry shelves were getting low on staples.
Freezer needed some extra meats/ fish too.
So worked( it is a job) at coupons with sales to TRY to save as much
as we could on that endeavor.
Seems the companies are downsizing packages/jars/cans
but the stores are upping thier prices!
So we pay more for less now..RANT!! Sorry.
I still have some of my own put ups from last year.
So some things I will not have to can or freeze this year.

Went out last Sat for some yard sales.
We got some goodies.
Like these crystal glasses for 3 bucks.
A few other things .
Was a fun day with my niece.
Oh the dishes came from an antique store in Smithfield, Va.
Lovely old ones with dark pink/red castles on them.
Not a whole set but I love them!!
Will use them with some creamy white ones.

We have harvested some lettuce and radishes from garden.
Had a nice salad for our supper last evening.
Strawberry Time is here for us. YUM!
We will buy some for jam and freezing at a local farm.
My potted ones are just about ready for me to pick for a snack!

This is a rose bush cutting rooted by Aunt Dot from her Mama's old rose bush!

Have to find a place to put it.
It is a very old variety. Gets big and smells heavenly.
A very soft pinkish cream color rose.

Well that is an update for the moment.
I hope to post again before Mother's Day but if not...
I wish all of you wonderful Mama's and Grand Mama's
A HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Hugs!!!!

Stash....

Have you checked out Rae Ann's other blog, Stash Manicure yet???
Well you should! Get on over there! Check it out!
Just click on the button up there in my blog's upper right hand corner!
So many ideas to bust that stash out!
It is a good resource for ideas for quits/sewing period.
Different folks contribute their ideas, ways and means, etc.

I have made very good progress in trimming up my stash in the last year.
Doing up my 'new' sewing room was the catalyst for me. It is small!
Truly had to make some tough calls on holding on to 'stuff' !
So I passed a lot on to others to use to create.
I also sewed up many a small infant and toddler quilt for donations.
Made pillow cases, aprons, purses and totes.
I have also been cutting ...squares of different sizes, strips of different widths.
My thinking is I will use them up more quickly this way.
I am using Bonnie Hunter's idea also..look at the fabric only as color not the print!

I do mostly smaller projects now.
I think I can make better progress using what I have now that I can see most of it...;-)
Out of site out of mind is very true for me!!

I use the closet...( more in since this pic was taken)!!

...also the cabinets/baskets behind sewing area is fabric filled.

Okay must confess I do have two large tubs still in the hall linen closet...BUT...they are clear and easy for me to pull out! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Now I must give a big THANK YOU Shout Out to Rae Ann!
I have been lucky to be picked for her first
Stash Manicure Follower Giveaway!!!
I borrowed her pic of my gift!!!

Cool 'eh!?!

See yet another reason to go check out this special blog!
